What are my duties and responsibilities?

Au Pairs can provide limited extra help around the house. In addition to standard child care responsibilities Au Pars may perform the following child care related duties:

• Help children get ready for the days activities
• Laundry, ironing, and other clothing care for the children
• Meal planning and preparation for the children
• Tidying the children’s bedrooms and play areas
• Driving the children between home, school and other activities

Because an Au Pair's primary responsibility is to provide child care, additional duties must be relevant to the children and child care. The US Department of State prohibits Au Pairs from performing general housekeeping and cooking tasks often performed by trained domestic help.
